My Approach
What to expect
I have worked with a wide variety of client groups within the NHS since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist from Glasgow University in 2013. I am registered with the HCPC (registration number PYL30255 ). I accept private health insurance with BUPA.

As a Private Clinical Psychologist, I am dedicated to providing compassionate and person centred psychological assessment and intervention. I draw on a wide range of evidence-based therapy models to tailor therapy to the needs of each client. As well as offering face to face sessions in Glasgow, I also provide UK wide sessions via video calls.

My specialities include:
-
Intervention for mental health difficulties including but not limited to anxiety (OCD, GAD, Phobia etc), depression, complex trauma (inc. PTSD).
-
Expertise in the impact of mental health on our cognition (our memory, concentration etc).
-
Addressing the specific psychological needs of those over 65.
-
Adjustment to life changing diagnoses (inc. dementia, stroke, cancer, traumatic and acquired brain injury).
-
Carers support.
-
Complex grief.

I also have extensive experience in providing neuropsychological assessment and interpretation, and offer support and advice on how to understand and best manage any cognitive difficulties experienced. I am also experienced in adapting psychological interventions to make these more accessible for neurodivergent clients..

Clients are encouraged to provide feedback, and their input is highly valued. I strive to create a supportive and informative environment for those seeking psychological help.

We'll start with a brief phone call to talk about your therapy needs and see if we're a good fit to work together. This step is free of charge.
Formal psychological therapy starts with a comprehensive assessment. This usually lasts between one and three sessions and involves working together to use psychological theory to better understand your experiences. We call this 'formulation' rather than diagnosis - each person's experiences are their own and together we form a psychological understanding of your unique narrative - how your difficulties developed, what keeps them going, and identifying the most appropriate therapy approach to empower you to move forward towards a more fulfilling life.

We will then develop treatment goals and plan, and review progress and direction of therapy at regular stages. My approach is compassionate, open and honest, and I like to know that clients understand each step in therapy and are comfortable and safe during treatment.

My approach draws on aspects of different therapies I am trained in to develop appropriate person centred interventions. I am trained in:
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-
Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT)
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-
Mindfulness
-
Behavioural Activation (BA)
-
Stress & Distress (dementia)
-
Cognitive Rehablitation Therapy (CRT)
-
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST)
